Red Factor Analysis

The red piebald color in the Friesian breed is present as a recessive gene and therefore only homozygous subjects are born red. If the parents are black, but bear the red factor, there is a 25% probability that a red homozygous child will be born. If a cow bearing the red factor covered with a red homozygous bull, the odds double and therefore 50% of the children can be born with a red coat. To be sure that a subject has the red genotype in its genetic heritage, which is visually masked by the dominant black color, it is possible to perform a test using the DNA of the subject. Based on the response obtained, the breeder will be able to make the coupling choices he deems most appropriate.

The cost of the test is € 85,00.
