Brian Carscadden
Executive Senior Manager, Blondin Sires Inc.
Brian Carscadden è originario di Guelph nell’ Ontario orientale in Canada. Nato e cresciuto in un allevamento Holstein iscritto alla selezione, si è laureato in Scienze Agrarie presso l'Università di Guelph nel maggio 1994.
Dopo la laurea, Carscadden è stato assunto come sire analyst presso United Breeders in Ontario. Le sue mansioni presso la United Breeders includevano foto ed esporre le figlie dei tori in selezione, redigere programmi di accoppiamento e scegliere i giovani tori da avviare al programma genetico. Nel 1998 è stata costituita Semex Alliance e Brian è stato assunto nel neocostituito gruppo di sire analyst di Semex, dove ha lavorato fino al 1° febbraio 2021. Da allora, Brian ha iniziato una nuova carriera come Executive Senior Manager presso la Blondin Sires Inc., dove oggi è fortemente coinvolto in tutti gli aspetti dell'attività.
Gli incarichi di giudice hanno portato Brian in oltre 35 Paesi diversi. Nel corso dei suoi 20 anni di carriera come giudice, ha giudicato mostre nazionali nella maggior parte dei Paesi del mondo.
In Nord America, Brian ha giudicato numerose esposizioni statali, provinciali e regionali. Nel 2006 è stato giudice associato alla Royal Winter Fair Holstein Show ed è stato giudice ufficiale dell'International Holstein Show al World Dairy Expo nel 2008. Ha giudicato le mostre Red-Holstein sia alla Royal Winter Fair nel 2009 che alla World Dairy Expo nel 2010. Ha anche valutato tutte le razze al Swiss Expo nel 2009 e nel 2010. È poi tornato nel 2020 per giudicare le Red-Holstein sempre alla Swiss Expo. Nel 2011 è stato giudice unico del National Holstein Show alla Royal Winter Fair di Toronto, in Canada. Nel 2015 Brian ha giudicato il Supreme International Holstein Show a St. Hyacinthe, in Quebec. Nel 2017, è stato giudice ufficiale del TD Canadian Classic 4-H show alla Royal Winter Fair.
Sostenitore dei giovani in agricoltura, Brian rimane attivo con vari programmi giovanili, conferenze e promuovendo il coinvolgimento dei giovani attraverso corsi di conduzione degli animali nel ring e di valutazione morfologica. Brian ha anche fatto parte del Comitato consultivo Holstein Canada Type per 12 anni. La sua profonda esperienza di giudice gli è utile anche per far parte di diversi comitati di valutazione con Holstein Canada e Holstein Ontario.
Nel 2024, Carscadden può vantare ben 21 Holstein e Jersey nominate All American e All Canadian da lui allevate negli anni.
Brian vive a Napanee, Ontario, e ha 3 figli: Craig, Lauren e Colin.
Brian Carscadden of Guelph, Ontario, Canada was born and raised on a registered Holstein farm in Eastern Ontario and graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree in May of 1994.
Upon graduation, Carscadden was hired as a sire analyst for United Breeders of Guelph, Ontario. His duties at United Breeders included daughter photos and displays, mating program analysis and young sire acquisitions. In 1998, the Semex Alliance was formed, and Brian was hired on to the newly formed Semex Alliance Sire Analyst Team where he worked until Feb 1st, 2021. At that time, Brian began a new career as the Executive Senior Manager at Blondin Sires Inc. where he is heavily involved today with all aspects of the business.
Brian’s judging assignments have taken him to over 35 different countries. He has judged National shows in most countries around the globe during his 20-year judging career.
In North America, Brian has judged numerous state, provincial and county shows. In 2006, he was the associate judge at the Royal Winter Fair Holstein Show and was the official judge of the International Holstein Show at World Dairy Expo in 2008. He has judged the Red and White Holstein shows at both the Royal Winter Fair in 2009 and World Dairy Expo in 2010. He also officiated all breeds at Swiss Expo in 2009 and 2010. He then returned in 2020 to judge the Red and Whites at the Swiss Expo. In 2011, he was the official judge of the National Holstein Show at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, Canada. In 2015, Brian judged the Supreme International Holstein Show in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec. In 2017, Brian was the official judge of the TD Canadian Classic 4-H show at the Royal Winter Fair.
A promoter of youth in agriculture, Brian remains active with various youth programs, speaking engagements and promoting youth involvement through showmanship and judging clinics. Brian also served as a Holstein Canada Type Advisory Committee member for 12 years. His vast judging experience serves him well to also be part of several judging committees with Holstein Canada and Holstein Ontario.
In 2024, Carscadden owned or previously owned 21 All American and All Canadian nominated Holsteins and Jerseys.
